View full size Flowers were THE subject during the Biedermeier period, in particular the traditional nosegay, and of course the Flower Basket (this subject survived for about 120 years into the Art Deco period). So when this particular embroidery design was published in a Spanish periodical only a few weeks before the First World War broke out, the motif itself was almost 100 years old.
