View full size Harvest festivals already existed in pre-Christian times. In Christianity, harvest festivals are documented since the 3rd century. Depending on climate, harvest seasons are different, so there was never a common date for the harvest festival.
In rural areas of Central Europe it is common practice to cover the bread basket with a doily, embroidered with a design like this, showing grain and grapes.
The ZIP-file includes designs (monochrome and two-coloured) to be embroidered in a single hooping (hoop size 200x200mm), and a split design for small hoops (100x100mm, 4 hoopings).
